  1.        Welcome to the WaverlyStreet Easy Money Program (version 1.8)

  3. Easy Money (EZM) is a quick and easy-to-use means to record where all your
  4. money comes from and where it goes. I set out to write it after becoming
  5. frustrated with several other popular "money" programs, all of which seemed a
  6. lot more complicated than they needed to be. All I wanted was a (slightly) 
  7. glorified ledger book on the computer screen, where I could simply note how 
  8. much money I had spent on what, and then be able to review the information and 
  9. print simple reports.

  11. Using EZM is quick and painless. You can easily start the program, enter in
  12. several expenses, and get back out in a matter of seconds. This high speed, no
  13. nonsense operation makes it easy to get in the habit of using the program
  14. every day.

  16. EZM organizes records according to user-defined categories. For example, you
  17. might set up categories for "work", "food", "shelter", "utilities", etc...
  18. Whenever you make or spend any money, make an entry under the appropriate
  19. category. If you keep this up on a regular basis, you will be rewarded with
  20. some genuinely useful composite information.

  22. The EZM Macro utility allows you to automate the recording of recurring
  23. expenses and income, such as payroll checks. Macro files can be written to
  24. automatically make a number of entries at the same time.

  26. The EZM Reports utility allows you to specify exactly which categories, and
  27. which range of dates to include. All reports have a summary section showing
  28. the sub-totals for each category, the percentage of the grand total, and the
  29. grand total. There is also a simple bar graph in the summary section. At your
  30. option, the summary is followed by a complete listing of each line item,
  31. grouped under category headers and divided into "money IN" and "money OUT".

  33. Report data may be exported in comma-delimited format for import into any
  34. spreadsheet or word processing program.

  36. If desired, you may set up passcode protection, where the program will not
  37. start unless the correct code is first entered. (The passcode requirement may
  38. turned "off" or "on" at any time.)

  40. Select either of two date formats: MM-DD-YY or DD-MM-YY.

  42. Screen colors may be modified however you see fit, and there is a small
  43. "reminder" utility to keep you from forgetting important things.

  45. EZM requires an IBM-compatible PC running DOS 3.1 or better, about 140K
  46. memory, color VGA display, and free disk space greater than the size of the
  47. EZM data files. If you have a RAM drive configured, you may direct EZM to use
  48. it for temporary file processing (greatly reducing hard disk activity).

  53. Added comma-delimited data export capability to the reporting section. If you
  54. liked a previous version's speed and simplicity, but wished you could do more
  55. with the data in terms of reporting, graphing, etc., then check this out! Make
  56. charts and graphs using Easy Money data with your favorite DOS or Windows
  57. spreadsheet application.

  61. Added "open item" capability - zero-amount entries which serve as reminders to
  62. go back and enter in the correct amount, when you don't know *exactly* what
  63. something cost at the time you record it.

  65. Fixed problem wherein some systems with certain non-US DOS configurations
  66. would not get as far as the opening screen in a new installation.

  72. exchange, I will send you a working registration code to enter at the opening
  73. screen. Once a valid code is entered, the display of the opening screen will
